The most important tool to stop the spread of the virus and end the COVID-19 pandemic is a safe and effective COVID-19 Vaccine. The safety of this vaccine is very important. The U.S. vaccine safety system ensures that all vaccines are as safe as possible. Learn how the federal government is working to ensure the safety of COVID-19 vaccines.
In order to continue monitoring the safety of the vaccine, the CDC has created the v-safe System. This is a smartphone-based tool that uses text messaging and web surveys to provide personalized health check-ins after you receive a COVID-19 vaccination. Through v-safe, you can quickly tell CDC if you have any side effects after getting the COVID-19 vaccine. Depending on your answers, someone from CDC may call to check on you and get more information. And v-safe will remind you to get your second COVID-19 vaccine dose if you need one. California is planning to distribute and administer vaccines as quickly as possible. In order to give priority to individuals at higher risks, the government has created a distribution plan divided into phases.
Essential workers, including those working in agriculture and food industry, will be receiving the vaccine very soon, on Phase 1B. Spouses and children only qualify if they are also part of this sector. To learn about the distribution plan, go to:
The phases of distribution of the vaccine may not happen at the same time in each County. Statewide, counties can be in different phases & tiers due to differences in county size, population & number of people in industry groups.

Employer update: If you have not already, please reach out to your ag associations or CVCF to share your willingness to either host a vaccination event onsite or work with your neighboring employers to host a collective event. Please include a ballpark number of your employees interested in participating. We are working with employers and associations in 6 Valley Counties to attract needed vaccines for our farmworkers.
